Dental imaging software for IOPA, OPG and RVG images

Keep every X-ray and intra-oral photo on the patient's tooth, not in a sensor PC's folder. Dental Software India stores IOPA, OPG, bitewing and CBCT exports per tooth, reads DICOM headers, lets you zoom, adjust and compare images in the browser, removes photo metadata on upload and can pull new RVG images in from your sensor software's export folder.

In short: Dental Software India stores dental X-rays and photos (JPEG, PNG, WebP, PDF and DICOM, up to 20 MB each) against the patient and tooth, with a browser viewer for zoom, brightness, contrast, invert, rotate and side-by-side comparison. DICOM headers are read and uncompressed or baseline-JPEG DICOM files are previewed. A folder bridge uploads new images from RVG software exports. Direct sensor capture, 3D CBCT viewing and AI X-ray analysis are not offered.

What works today

Every image on its tooth

Upload IOPA, OPG, bitewing, CBCT exports and intra-oral photos from a phone or PC, tag them to a tooth or region and a date, and open them from the chart's imaging tab or the patient record.

A viewer built for radiographs

Zoom with the mouse wheel, drag to pan, adjust brightness and contrast, invert, rotate and flip, then put two images side by side to compare a periapical lesion before and after an RCT.

DICOM files accepted

Upload .dcm files as your software exports them. We read modality, study date, manufacturer, image size, bit depth and encoding, and preview uncompressed greyscale and baseline-JPEG DICOM in the browser.

Private by design

Images are stored outside the public web folder and served only to signed-in staff of your clinic. EXIF, GPS, XMP and text metadata are stripped from JPEG, PNG and WebP photos without re-compressing them.

RVG folder bridge

A small script on the X-ray PC watches the folder your RVG or intra-oral camera software exports to and uploads each new image to the right patient through the API, by file name such as P0012_36_iopa.jpg.

Before and after on the plan link

Pick an X-ray or a before/after photo to show on the patient's WhatsApp treatment-plan page. It appears only after the patient unlocks the page with their mobile number, with a generic caption.

How does the RVG folder bridge work?

Most RVG sensor and intra-oral camera software used in Indian clinics can save or export each image to a folder. The bridge is a short PowerShell script, generated inside the app with your account's address, that runs on the X-ray PC:

  1. Set the sensor software to export to C:\DSI-Export, naming files with the patient code, tooth and type.
  2. Create an API key in Settings and paste it into the script.
  3. Every few seconds the script uploads new files; the image appears on the patient's chart, tagged to the tooth, and the file moves to a "sent" folder. Rejected files go to "failed" with the reason in a log.

The image is still taken in your sensor software, so nothing about your X-ray workflow or the sensor's driver changes.

How does this compare with other dental software?

Cliniify lists X-ray, OPG and CBCT images attached per tooth (cliniify.com/specialities/dentist.html), and Clinicia records radiograph observations in its dental EMR (clinicia.com/solution-by-speciality/dentist/). In the US and UK, CareStack lists FDA-cleared native imaging, Dentally sells Dentally Vision, and CareStack and Dentrix Imaging advertise AI X-ray analysis. Based on public information as of October 2026; check with the vendor. Our imaging is upload-and-bridge rather than native sensor capture, and we say so.

How much storage is included?

Solo includes 5 GB, Clinic 50 GB and Chain 500 GB for images and files; the imaging screen shows what you have used. A typical IOPA is 100 to 500 KB and an OPG 1 to 5 MB, so 50 GB holds tens of thousands of radiographs. If a CBCT-heavy practice needs more, ask us for a quote. Dental imaging questions

Which X-ray and photo formats can I upload?

JPEG, PNG, WebP and PDF, and DICOM (.dcm) files, up to 20 MB each. Each image is tagged to a patient, a tooth or region, a type (IOPA, OPG, bitewing, CBCT export, photo) and a date, and opens from the tooth chart.

Does it connect directly to my RVG sensor?

Not directly. Dental Software India does not drive the sensor through TWAIN or a vendor SDK. Instead, the folder bridge watches the folder your RVG or intra-oral camera software exports to and uploads each new image to the right patient through the API, using file names such as P0012_36_iopa.jpg. Most sensor software can export to a folder.

Can I view DICOM files in the browser?

Partly. Every DICOM file is stored as uploaded and its header is read: modality, study date, manufacturer, size, bits and encoding. Uncompressed greyscale images and baseline-JPEG DICOM get a browser preview in the viewer. JPEG 2000, JPEG-LS, lossless-JPEG files and multi-frame CBCT volumes are stored and downloadable but not previewed; open those in your sensor or CBCT software.

What happens to photo metadata such as GPS location?

It is removed on upload. For JPEG, PNG and WebP files the EXIF, XMP, IPTC and text blocks (camera model, GPS, timestamps, comments) are stripped without re-compressing the image, so radiograph quality is untouched. DICOM files are kept exactly as exported.

Who can see the images?

Only signed-in staff of your clinic. Files are stored outside the public web folder and served only after a login and clinic check. If you choose to show a before/after photo or an X-ray on a treatment-plan link, the patient sees it only after confirming the last four digits of their mobile number, with a generic caption and no file name.

Is there AI X-ray analysis?

No. Automatic caries or bone-loss detection is not part of Dental Software India today. US suites such as CareStack and Dentrix Imaging advertise AI X-ray features; we will only add one with a validated partner and clear clinical limits.

How much storage do I get?

Solo includes 5 GB, Clinic 50 GB and Chain 500 GB for images and files. The imaging page shows how much you have used. If a busy CBCT or implant practice needs more, ask us for a quote.
