Dental Software India's charting software shows all 32 permanent teeth with crown and root silhouettes, records missing teeth, existing restorations and planned treatment by surface, records the BPE, and turns every planned procedure into a priced treatment-plan row. Tap it or say it.

In short: Dental Software India is dental charting software for Indian clinics: an FDI odontogram for the permanent dentition (11 to 48) with crown and root silhouettes, surface-level charting of missing teeth, existing restorations and planned treatment, BPE screening, and voice charting in English and Tanglish. Every planned procedure becomes a priced plan row. Primary teeth, mixed dentition, Universal and Palmer views and six-point perio are planned. Charting is included in every plan from ₹1,499 a month.

What does good dental charting software do?

Dental charting software records the state of every tooth so the next dentist, the lab and the patient all read the same picture. A good chart is fast to fill, shows roots as well as crowns, and feeds the plan and the bill without retyping.

Crown and root silhouettes

Root canals, posts, implants and periapical lesions sit on the root, not in a note. An RCT planned on 36 or an implant on 25 reads at a glance from across the operatory.

FDI numbering

FDI two-digit numbering for the 32 permanent teeth, 11 to 48, as Indian colleges and labs use. Primary teeth (51 to 85), mixed dentition and Universal or Palmer display views are planned, not live.

Surfaces, existing and planned work

Mesial, occlusal, distal, buccal, lingual and incisal surfaces per tooth. Caries and fractures in red, existing restorations and crowns in blue, RCT in amber, implants in grey and missing teeth dashed; every entry is marked existing, planned or done.

Periodontal notes today, full perio planned

Bleeding on probing and plaque percentages, a pocket depth for the selected tooth and notes on each BPE visit. A six-point pocket chart with recession and furcation per tooth is planned.

BPE for recall visits

Basic Periodontal Examination by sextant, scores 0 to 4 with an asterisk for furcation, so a six-month recall visit takes seconds rather than a full perio chart.

Voice charting

Say "36 MOD composite, 46 RCT planned" in English or code-mixed Tamil-English. Every voice entry is shown for confirmation before it is saved.

How does the chart connect to plans, billing and the lab?

In Dental Software India the chart is the starting point of the whole visit, not a picture filed away. When a dentist marks "crown planned" on 36, three things happen without retyping:

  • Treatment plan: a plan row appears with the procedure, the fee from your fee list, the phase and the assigned dentist or visiting consultant.
  • Estimate and approval: the plan can be printed or sent on WhatsApp as a private link with the teeth on a chart and EMI options for approval from home.
  • Lab case: once the prep is done, one click opens the crown as an outside-lab case carrying the FDI number, shade and photos.
  • Bill and payout: when the procedure is marked done, the bill line, GST where it applies, the consultant's split and the next recall date are generated from the same row.

This is why a chart with roots matters commercially as well as clinically. A crown-only chart cannot show that 46 needs a root canal before its crown, so the plan is incomplete and the estimate the patient sees is wrong.

Dental charting software compared: what to check

Most clinic software sold in India started life as a general medical EMR and added a tooth picture later. Dental-specific suites from the US chart well but number teeth in the Universal system and price in dollars. Use this table when you evaluate any dental charting software, including ours.

Who uses the dental chart, and how?

General dentists

Chart existing work and findings at the first visit in about two minutes, plan in phases, and send the plan for approval before the patient reaches the car park. At the six-month recall, a BPE and a quick caries check update the same chart, so the history of each tooth builds up visit by visit.

Endodontists and visiting consultants

Working at your chair on the clinic's login, a visiting endodontist sees the teeth referred to them, the IOPA tagged to each tooth and the root silhouettes, records canals and working lengths in notes, and has their split calculated from the procedure they mark done.

Orthodontists

Extraction plans marked on the permanent-dentition chart, and aligner sets tracked as lab cases in the orthodontics module. Mixed-dentition charts for young patients are planned.

Dental charting questions

What is dental charting software?

Dental charting software records the condition of every tooth and surface on a digital odontogram: caries, existing restorations, missing teeth, root canals, implants and periodontal findings. In Dental Software India, each planned procedure on the chart also becomes a treatment-plan row with a fee, so charting feeds the estimate, the bill and the recall date.

Does Dental Software India use FDI or Universal tooth numbering?

Dental Software India charts in FDI (ISO 3950), numbering permanent teeth 11 to 48, because that is what Indian dental colleges and labs use. Today the chart covers the permanent dentition only. Primary teeth (51 to 85), mixed dentition and Universal or Palmer display views are planned; until then, note primary teeth in the clinical notes.

Can I chart periodontal pocket depths and BPE?

Partly. Today you record the BPE by sextant (0 to 4, with an asterisk for furcation), bleeding on probing and plaque percentages, a pocket depth for the selected tooth and notes, and the last five BPE charts are shown for comparison. Mobility is a tooth condition on the chart. A full six-point pocket chart with recession and furcation per tooth is planned.

What can I record on each tooth today?

Caries or to treat, existing restoration, crown, crown planned, bridge, RCT done, RCT planned, implant, implant planned, missing, extraction planned, sealant, fracture, mobility and healthy, on the mesial, occlusal, distal, buccal, lingual or incisal surface. Each entry is marked existing, planned or done, so existing work and planned treatment are told apart.

How does voice charting work in a dental clinic?

The dentist says something like "36 MOD composite, 46 RCT planned" and Dental Software India fills the chart and the plan, showing each entry for confirmation before it is saved. It understands FDI numbers, surfaces and common procedures in English and in code-mixed Tamil-English, so gloves stay on between patients.

Is dental charting included in every plan?

Yes. The FDI odontogram with roots, BPE, treatment plans and estimates are in every Dental Software India plan, including Solo at ₹1,499 a month. Voice charting and WhatsApp plan approval start on the Clinic plan at ₹2,999 a month.

Can I attach X-rays to a tooth on the chart?

Yes. IOPA, OPG and intra-oral photos can be uploaded from a phone or exported from sensor software and tagged to a patient and tooth, and the chart has an imaging tab for the patient. Clicking a tooth on the chart lists every chart entry for that tooth with its date.
