What exactly can the lab see and change?
The lab link is scoped to one case. It is a 32-character random token, excluded from search engines, rate-limited and never cached, and you can reissue it from the case at any time, which stops the old link working at once.

Only your team can set Received at clinic, Fitted or Cancelled, change the due date, shade, material or lab fee, or attach photos. Every lab update is written to the case history and the audit log and notifies your team.
Why this matters more in India
Most Indian clinics send crowns, bridges and dentures to two or three outside labs, often across town, and the status lives in a WhatsApp group or in the lab technician's head. The result is the same every week: a patient calls to ask if the crown is ready, the front desk calls the lab, the lab says tomorrow, and a fitting that was booked optimistically has to be moved. Chains multiply this by the number of branches.
Dental Software India treats the lab case as part of the treatment plan. When a patient approves a crown on WhatsApp, the lab case can open the same day with the deposit already in the ledger. Aligner programmes in the orthodontics module use the same tracker for every set and refinement. Consultant payouts are calculated on the procedure fee; if you pay a visiting prosthodontist after lab costs, set their percentage accordingly.

Does my dental lab need a Dental Software India account?
No. Each case has its own private link. The lab opens it on any phone, sees the case details and photos, and sets In production, Shipped or Remake, with an optional note and their name. No login, no app.
What can the lab see and change?
The lab sees only that case: case number, patient code with age and sex (not the name, phone or address), treating dentist, case type, FDI teeth, material, shade, instructions, impression and due dates, aligner set number, the photos you attached and the status history. It can set In production, Shipped or Remake and add notes. It cannot change shade, teeth, dates or fees, see fees, the chart or other cases, or reopen a fitted or cancelled case.
Can I stop a lab using an old link?
Yes. Reissue the link from the case and the old one stops working at once. Links use a 32-character random token, are excluded from search engines, are rate-limited, and every lab update is written to the case history and the audit log and notifies your team.
What case types are supported?
Crown, bridge, veneer, inlay or onlay, denture, aligner set, retainer, implant crown, splint or night guard, and other. Material such as PFM, zirconia or e.max is a free-text field on each case.
How do patients get told the work has arrived?
When your team marks a case Received at clinic, Dental Software India sends the patient a WhatsApp message that the work has arrived and asks them to reply with a convenient day for the fitting; the desk then books the chair.
